Naperville Wrestling Preview

Preview of the 2010-2011 NCHS Wrestling Team
The 2010-2011 Redhawk Wrestling Campaign will feature some strong varsity returners as well as a crew of wrestlers stepping up to the varsity level.  The Hawks lost nine starters (out of 14 weight classes) from last year's varsity line-up, including Andy Kovalsky who took 4th in state at 140 pounds.  Here are some of the wrestlers you can expect to see this season:

Josh Tardy returns after qualifying for state last year.  Josh had a strong off-season placing at Greco State and getting a silver at Florida.

John Graeber will come back as a starter with two years of varsity experience.  John perhaps trained harder in the off-season wrestling in Freestyle and Greco State, numerous developmentals, clinics and camps.  John placed 6th at Freestyle State.

Jon Williamson returns with two+ full years of varsity experience.  Jon wrestled most of the spring and will provide strong experience at the lower weight classes.  Jon just missed placing at Freestyle State this spring.

Kirk Cherep returns as a junior already with two years of varsity experience.

Colin Guttosch spent a good amount of time on the mat this off-season and he brings some varsity experience.

James Mitchell competed in Florida and got some great matches at heavyweight.

Mitch Lee hopes to establish a varsity spot after competing at Florida this summer.

Luke Roth just missed placing at the Cadet State Wrestling tournament this summer and also was represented at the Freshman/Sophomore State Tournament last spring in Springfield

Five other wrestlers competed with the Naperville Phoenix at the AAU Scholastic Duals this summer and several of them worked out throughout the spring and summer as well; Andrew Meder, Kyle Miller, John Mixen, and Alex Hook.
