NCHS 42 - WWS 25
December 13, 2012

Naperville Central improved to 2-2 on the year in the DVC after defeating WWS at Wheaton on Thursday.  The injury bug hit the Tiger as they forfeited four of the 14 weight classes to the Redhawks.

The starting weight class was 182.  Justin Tardy and Ryan Berg both picked up forfeits.  Luke Roth scored two takedowns then cradled and pinned his opponent at 220.  Joe Saleh won one of the more exciting matches of the night.  After a 0-0 draw in the first period, Joe escaped and locked up a body lock that resulted in a pin.  The heavyweight won in the second period.

Shuji Mizoguchi and Derek Wilke each picked up forfeits at 106 and 113 respectively.  Senior Mitch Lee scored two takedowns in the first period and cruised to an 8-2 decision at 120.  With the team score at 39-0, the Tigers came back with three wins of their own.  Aidan Kehrili was defeated 3-13 and Matt Chobak was pinned.  Ben Williamson battled to a 0-0 tie until late in the third period when his opponent scored an escape to win 0-1.

Andrew Cassioppi scored a reversal late in the first period to tie his score 2-2.  After giving up an escape in the second period, he chose down and escaped to tie the score again in the third.  Andrew battled for the key takedown midway through the third period on a high crotch - double and held on to win 5-4.  Andrews efforts earned him the team's "I'm Somebody" award for the evening.  Wheaton scored a pin against Hunter Stephens at 152.  John Needham was defeated 2-6 at 160 and Eric Reents lost at 170 to bring the final team score to 42-25.

The NCHS JV1 team won 57-15.  Wheaton-Warrenville South won the JV2 contest 21-33.  The Redhawks won at the freshman level 55-19.

The Redhawks travel to Hinsdale for the Whitlatch tournament Friday and Saturday.
