Mar. 18, 2013 – North Central College junior wrestler Nick Santos has been named to the NCAA Division III Scholar All-America team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association for the 2012-13 season.
Santos was one of 107 student-athletes awarded for their work in the classroom and on the mat. To be eligible for the award, athletes must have placed in the top-six at the NCAA Regional and have a grade point average of 3.2 or higher. They also are eligible if they had a winning percentage of 67%, but did not place in the top-six at regionals.
An athletic training major, the 125-pounder went 28-21 on the season, including a fifth-place finish at the Midwest Regional Championships and a second-place showing at the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin Championships.
