Naperville Central Finishes 5-1 in Two Quads

Naperville Central finished 3-0 at home on Thursday, December 29 and finished 2-1 at Schaumburg on Friday, December 30.  The Redhawks are now 14-2 on the season.  Three NCHS wrestlers finished undefeated on the week.  Senior Jake Keating finished 5-0 with three pins and two wins by technical fall.  Jackson Punzel also ended the two days with a 5-0.  Four of Punzel’s wins were by fall.  Ben Cianchetti was the third wrestler to finish without a defeat.  He won five matches with three pins and the other two by forfeit.

Kyle Guttosch, Mujtaba Ahmed, Cam Palmer, and Christian Nussbaum all ended the week with just one loss.  Palmer had a very good week, finishing with five wins, three of them by fall.  Nussbaum also had three wins by pin.

Derek McDaniel and Luke Russell both ended the day 4-2.

The Redhawk JV team took 5th place at the twelve team Libertyville JV Invitational.  Zeke Hill took 2nd place as the top finisher.

The Redhawk freshman team took first place at the Hinsdale Freshman Tournament.  Bryce Cooperkawa, Elrin Esporales, and Ange Eklou took home the gold.


 Naperville Central will restart DuPage Valley Conference competition this coming week.  They take on rival Naperville North at NNHS on Thursday, January 5th and compete at home on Friday, January 6th against Wheaton Warrenville South.  Action for both events starts with underlevels at 5:30 and varsity beginning around 6:45.


On Saturday, January 7th NCHS will travel to Downers Grove North for a quad.
