Naperville
Central chalked up a DuPage Conference win by defeating Metea Valley by a score
of 63-12 at home. The Redhawks won 11 of
13 contested matches.
The
dual started with the 145 pound contestants where MV wrestler Sims scored a
first period fall over Ryan Silva. The
Redhawks answered with six straight wins.
Sean King scored a fall in just 42 seconds at 152 pounds. Shane Roth scored a late takedown to win a
hard fought match at 160 pounds by a score of 7-5. Senior Cameron Palmer added a first period
fall at 170 pounds.
In
very likely the marquee matchup of the night, Jackson Punzel defeated Josh
LaBarbera by a major decision of 8-0 at 182 pounds. Jackson scored three takedowns in the
match. Ben Cianchetti quickly finished
his match with pin in 54 seconds. Angelo
Eklou win by forfeit at 220. Carson
Enfield lost by fall over Henry Hartl at heavyweight.
The
Redhawks were able to win the remaining six matches. Tommy Porter scored a 5-0 decision at 106
pounds. Tyler Driessens finished his
opponent in the second period with a fall at 113. Colin Baumgartner looked impressive with a
win by technical fall (22-6) at 120 pounds.
Leo Keating, Elrin Esporlas, and Kyle Guttosch all sealed their wins by
fall at 126, 132, and 138 respectively.
The
NCHS JV1 team defeated Metea Valley 54-18.
The NCHS freshman team also won 60-13.
Metea Valley did not field a JV2 team.
Several Central wrestlers received matches against each other during the
dual.
