Naperville Central Defeats Naperville North

NCHS 53 – NNHS 15

The Naperville Central Redhawks won the crosstown matchup by a score of 53-15 against Naperville North.  The dual was held at NNHS.  Central won 10 matches of 13 contested and picked up one more by forfeit. 

The Huskies came out firing winning the first two matches by fall.  At 182, Tariq Sikander was pinned in the final seconds of his match and Austin Longmire fall at 195 in the first period.  North grabbed a 0-12 team score lead.  But, Naperville Central answered quickly.  Senior Angelo Eklou locked down a pin in the first period of his match at 220 and Carson Enfield battled to a 2-0 decision. Then, after Ethan Olson accepted a forfeit at 106 pound, the Redhawks found themselves ahead in the team score lead 15-12.

Central then piled on the wins, capturing eight of the next nine matches.  Tommy Porter, 113 came back after giving up the first takedown to win by fall and Tyler Driessens, 120 showed his grit with a second period fall.  Ethan Jones grabbed a quick 28 second fall at 126 pounds.  Bryce Cooperkawa was defeated by a 4-8 score at 132 pounds.

Sophomore Ayden Lutes continued Central’s good fortune scoring a 9-4 decision at 145 and Ryan Silva fought to a 3-1 decision at 152.  Sean King earned another first period fall at 160.  Junior Shane Roth closed the dual out with a hard-fought 9-6 decision.

Naperville Central was able to win all four levels.  Central won the JV1 dual 33-27.  That match-up came down to the final contest, won by Nick Antonietti.  NCHS won the JV2 dual 47-18 and the freshman dual 45-27.
