After hearing of Friday’s varsity DVC Championship the
Redhawk JV2 team took the mats to prove they have what it takes to win their
own tournament. Central outscored
Naperville North 268.5 to 236 for the first place trophy. Waubonsie Valley took third with 121 points. Central won seven of the fourteen weight
classes and advanced 13 wrestler to the finals.
DVC champions include Igor DeCastro (113), Josh Bern (126),
Austin Schiltz (138), Quinn O’Donnell (144), Justin Skryd (150), Caelon Young
(157), and Sashvin Yogandran (215).
DeCastro and Bern defeated their teammates in the finals. Bring home a silver medal were Jackson Bell
(113), Tony Coclanes (126), Cayden Castro (132), Nick Haddad (175), Nate
Sadowski (215), and Josh Melsa (285).
Bronze medalists at the DVC Championships were Gibson
Berkowitz (106), Vince Miller (120), Ethan Pangman (138), Mark Klavohn (144),
Tyler Thornton (175), and Nithilan Gandi (190).
Taking forth: Blake Highhouse (120) and Leon Elenovski. Taking fifth: Oscar Binkowski (132), Calum
Bohan (150), Nick Zbylut (165). Jayden
Davis took sixth place.
Meanwhile NCHS sent 29 wrestlers to Dundee Crown for a final
wrestling quad against Libertyville, Dundee Crown and Lyons. Every Redhawk saw the mat. Central won 16 of 44 matches. Landon Lucero and Johnny Brouwer both came away
with two wins.
