Naperville Central Defeats Lake Park on Senior Night

NCHS 65 – LP 12

In the final home dual of the season, Naperville Central defeated Lake Park by a score of 65 to 12.  Central won 4 of the 5 matches contested.  All other weight classes are forfeited.

Starting at 138, Steven Bumpus scored three takedowns and added a two-point nearfall and held on to win 8-7.  After Derek McDaniel won by forfeit, Jackson Punzel won 8-5 at 152 pounds.  Punzel scored a takedown in each period and also scored a two-point nearfall.  Cesar Anguiano picked up the forfeit at 160 pounds pushing Cam Hayes up to 170.  Hayes won by technical fall scoring 12 takedowns in two periods.   Ben Cianchetti picked up a forfeit at 182 pounds.  Alex Raulickis lost by fall at 195.

Christian Nussbaum and Alex Hunter both earned forfeits.  Kyle Guttosch, still nursing an upper body injury, was held out of his match at 106 pounds, giving Lake Park a forfeit.  In the final contested match, Shuji Mizoguchi earned a first period fall at 113 pounds.  Nick Keating, Jake Keating, and Luc Jandt also scored wins by forfeit.

Seniors and their families were recognized prior to the dual.  Posters and signs were hung celebrating their accomplishments.  The seniors are: Shuji Mizoguchi, Luc Jandt, Steven Bumpus, Cameron Hayes, John Szczap, Kyle Hildebrand and Alex Hunter.  Also, wrestling manager Josclyn Guzman and videographer Tom Hamill were also recognized.

The Redhawks won the JV1 dual, losing only one match and giving up one forfeit.  NCHS won the JV2 dual by forfeit.  Lake Park won the freshman dual.

Next up Central will face Wheaton North.  The JV teams will wrestle in the DVC conference tournament this Saturday.  The varsity has the weekend off.
