NCHS 33 – NV 35
Naperville Central traveled to Neuqua Valley and lost a very
tight dual to its DVC rivals. The
Redhawks were missing two of their top starters. Starting at 160, senior Derek McDaniel scored
10 takedowns and secured a pin in the waning seconds of his match. Tariq Sikander stepped in at the 170 weight
class by gave up a fall. Cameron Palmer
responded with a first period fall moving up a weight class. Angelo Eklou was caught early and he was
pinned. The back-and forth continued as
Ben Cianchetti was able to secure a fall with just a fraction of a second left
in the first period of his match.
Sophomore 220 pounder Carson Enfield bounced to heavyweight and was
pinned in the second period of what was a tight match.
At 106 pounds, Tyler Driessens secured the first decision of
the night with a tight 6-5 decision.
Naperville Central gave up a forfeit at 113 pounds and was defeated in
the next two weight classes. Colin
Baumgarter and Elrin Esporlas both lost by decisions at 120 and 126
respectively.
The Redhawks were able to win the next couple of
matches. Sophomore Ryan Silva battled to
a 12-8 decision at 132 pounds. Fabricio
Navarro (138) wrested tough the entire match and was up 7-1 when he locked down
a big fall. Matt Kaszuba stepped in for
his first varsity match but was stopped by a score of 2-11. Senior Nick Keating was able to major
decision his opponent at 152 pounds.
Naperville Central won both the JV1 dual and the freshman
dual by large scores. Neuqua Valley did
not field a JV2 team.
