NCHS 24 – DeKalb 43
Central (9-6, 2-1 in DVC) travelled to DeKalb for a DVC contest against one of the top teams in Illinois. NCHS won four matches and grabbed another by forfeit. Freshman Ty Martin started the dual off well for the Redhawks, working toward a convincing 6-0 decision at 106 pounds. DeKalb won the next five matches in a row. Ethan Olson, (120) fell short of his comeback bid, losing by decision 2-4. Ethan Jones earned the forfeit at 145.
Junior Ayden Lutes (152) faced off against Damien Lopez and make a contest out of the match, scoring two late takedowns against his standout opponent. The Barbs then scored a couple of pins at 160 and 170 before Senior Shane Roth won decisively at 182 pounds, locking down a fall in 54 seconds. David Pirozhnik returned to the line-up and proved his worth with a pin at 195 pounds in the second period. Austin Longmire dropped a decision at 220 pounds.
In perhaps the most exciting match of the night, Junior Nick Antonietti held on to a slim 1-0 margin to win at heavyweight. The match featured numerous scoring opportunities by both wrestlers keeping the fans at the edge of their seats.
