The Redhawk Junior Varsity 1 team repeated as DuPage Valley
Champions, winning the six-team conference tournament held at Waubonsie Valley
High School. Central advanced twelve individuals
to the finals and crowned five champions.
DeKalb took second place and Naperville North took third.
Senior Joe Thomas (170) brought home gold. Juniors Javier Sevilla and John Carens were champions at 152 and 160. Sophomores Flynn Collins and Will Erbeck both stood on top of the podium at 106 and 182 respectively.
Central had seven additional finalist, taking second
place. Senior Alex Kelsey made an all
Redhawk final at 160 pounds. Senior
Duncan Foley finished with a silver at 285.
Other finalist were Gavin McDonald (120), CJ Bierman (126), Lucas Moen
(132), Bradley Anderson (145), and Dylan Schroeder (195).
Senior Hawk Charles Kuang (138) was the winningest wrestler
of the tournament, finishing with three wins and a bronze medal. All three of his wins were by fall. Vince Miller battled to a third place at
113. Nithilan Gandi (220) and Jake Moore
(106) placed fifth.
