Naperville Central traveled to Metea Valley for the final
regular season dual meet of the season and shut out the home team 79-0. Central finishes the regular season with a
dual meet record of 19-8 and 4-1 in the DuPage Valley Conference.
The Mustangs forfeited seven weight classes and sent seven
wrestlers to the mat. The Redhawks won
all seven with five coming by fall. The Redhawks
did not give up a takedown in the dual.
Senior Captions Larry Stubitsch (138) and Gavin Bohan (160) led the way with two of those pins. Stubitsch’s stick came in the first period, just 40 seconds into the match. Bohan battled to the second period before earning his slap on the mat.
Hagan Taylor (145), Nyree Dabney (182) and Niko Besteiro
(220) were all winners by fall. Henry
Rydwelski (170) scored five takedowns towards his win by major decision
12-3. Chase Enfield (285) was a winner
by decision 4-3. He scored two
takedowns, one in each of the first two periods and held on through the third period
to secure the win. Winners by forfeit
were Jacob Cochran (106), Zach Moen (113), Ty Martin (120), Ethan Olson (126),
Mitchell Kaszuba (132), Chris Bern (152) and Jake Smetters (195).
The NCHS JV team won 72-9 and the NCHS Freshman team won 48-18. Metea Valley did not field a JV2 team.
