Wheaton North defeats Central

Falcons win 19-46

Wheaton North handled Naperville Central at NCHS on Thursday, December 9th by a final score of 19-46.  It was the first home DVC dual in the newly remodeled wrestling gym at Central.  Starting at 130 pounds, Kirk Cherep scored five takedowns to win by a major decision 12-2.  After Andrew Meder was defeated at 135 by a score of 1-7, Josh Tardy battled Striplin to a 4-1 victory at 140.

Kyle Miller was pinned at 145 pounds but John Graeber picked him up with an exciting second period fall at 152 pounds.  John's effort was rewarded with the I'm Somebody Award from the team.  Wheaton North showed their muscle by winning the next four matches.  John Mixen was defeated 7-13 and Colin Guttosch, Luke Roth, and Will Damron were each pinned.  James Mitchell picked up a forfeit, but the Falcons picked up where they left off winning the last four matches.  Ryan Porter was pinned at 103, Mitch Lee lost 0-11 at 112 pounds.  Steven Splan and Jon Williamson were both defeated by identical 4-8 scores.

The Redhawks are now 4-4 in duals and 0-2 in DVC competition.
