Redhawks 42 - Tigers 23

Naperville Central 5-8, (1-3 in DVC), defeated Wheaton Warrenville South at home by a score of 42-23. The dual started at 113 where Mitch Lee broke a 3-3 tie coming out of the second period to post a major decision 13-4. Lee scored ten points in the final period for the win. Stephen Splan scored a late reversal to win 5-4 at 120 pounds. Ben Williamson picked up a forfeit at 126, then Kirk Cherep locked down a fall in the second period at 132 pounds. The pin put the Redhawks up 19-0 in team points early in the dual.
The Tigers came back with two wins at 138 and 145. Andrew Meder lost a major decision 1-12 and Hunter Stephens was pinned early in his match. Trace Murray got the Redhawks back on track with a 18-2 technical fall. The 152 pounder scored four takedowns and four sets of nearfall for the second period technical fall. Tom Mitrenga posted a solid 12-0 major decision at 160 pounds. Kyle Klass was out-dualed by Franke at 170 by a score of 3-15. Luke Roth and Welsh, two returning state qualifiers battled at 182 pounds. Welsh scored early in the match and held for a 2-7 win. That win brought the team score to 28-17.
Ryan Berg broke a 0-0 first period tie with a takedown and turn in the second period and then cruised to a 12-3 technical fall at 195 pounds. Berg scored four takedowns in the bout. Wheaton Warrenville South gave up a forfeit to Vince Piazza and Naperville Central gave up a forfeit at heavyweight.
In the final match of the night, Derek Wilke scored five takedowns and added two sets of nearfall points to win 15-5 at 106 pounds. Derek's solid effort was rewarded as he earns the team's "I'm Somebody" Award for the night.
The Redhawks won 63-17 at the JV1 level and also won 50-18 at the JV2 level. WWS won the freshman dual 27-50.
