NCHS Wrestling Launches 2015-2016

NCHS defeats Lane Tech 78- (-1)
NCHS defeats Batavia 44-25
NCHS loses to Downers Grove South 25-40

Naperville Central wrestling kicks off the 2015-2016 season by going 2-1 at home on a Saturday morning.  In the first dual, Central won all 10 matches contested, 7 by fall.  Lane Tech forfeited 4 weight classes.  Nick Keating, Jake Keating, Luc Jandt, Luke Russell, Cam Hayes, John Szczap, and Alex Hunter all recorded pins.  Derek McDaniel scored a technical fall racking up 10 takedowns in his match.  Ben Cianchetti scored a major decision 11-3 and Christian Nussbaum locked down a 4-3 victory.  Nick Keating, Russell, Sczcap, and Cianchetti all won their first varsity matches.  Lane Tech was penalized a team point in the contest.

The Redhawks followed up the big win with a victory against Batavia.  Central won 8 of 13 matches including five wins by fall.  Steven Bumpus scored three 3rd period points to win his first varsity match 4-2 at 145 pounds.  Alex Raulicks scored a 1st period fall for his first varsity win as well.  Alex wrestles at 195 pounds.  Shuji Mizoguchi locked down a pin at 113 pounds.

Downers Grove South won all three duals on the day, downing NCHS in the third dual.  Cam Hayes pinned all three opponents in the quad, winning by fall in the first period against DGS.  Christian Nussbaum is 3-0 after a 7-2 decision in the final match.  Shuji Mizoguchi looked tough, winning by a score of 15-6 for his third victory on the day.  Both Keatings, Nick and Jake, scored falls against DGS.  The brothers won all six matches, four by fall and one more by technical fall.

The NCHS junior varsity team won all three duals at the same event.

The Redhawks will host Glenbard North at home on Friday December 4th and then travel to the mega-duals on Saturday, December 5th.
