The Redhawks open the 2016 calendar year with three dual meet wins.  The match took place in the main gym of Naperville Central High School.  Central finishes the week 11-0 in duals and improves to 18-3 on the season.  In the first contest, NCHS beat Schaumburg 52-30.  Central won nine matches in the dual with eight of those wins by fall.  Only three matches reached the third period.  Central matched the effort of nine wins in the second dual by defeating Libertyville.  Central won the first four weight classes and held at 18-0 team score lead early.  At 145, Steven Bumpus scored a late third period takedown to secure a 3-1 win.  Ben Cianchetti and Nick Keating both earned falls in the contest while Shuji Mizoguchi earned a technical fall in the second period.

In the three match Central beat Crystal Lake South 63-15.  Jake Keating scored nine takedowns and a 23-8 technical fall all in the first period of his match.  NCHS earned four pins in the match.

Kyle Guttosch, Shuji Mizoguchi, Jake Keating, Luc Jandt, Steven Bumpus and Christian Nussbaum all finished the day 3-0.  Luc Jandt finished a very impressive week adding two more pins to his total.  Jackson Punzel and Alex Hunter both finished 2-1 on the day, but both wins by both wrestlers were pins.

The NCHS JV team also finished the day 3-0 in the same contest.  The freshman team competed at Hinsdale South in a tournament.  Cam Palmer came way with a tournament championship.

Next up the Redhawks will host cross-town rival Naperville North in DVC Wrestling action on Thursday, January 7th.  Underlevels will begin at 5:30 and the varsity will wrestle under the spotlight at 7:00.  Should be a fun event that you won't want to miss.  The Redwawks will travel to Wheaton Warrenville South on Friday.  On Saturday the Hawks will compete in another quad at Downers Grove North while the JV1 team will wrestle at the Bolingbrook tournament and the JV2 team will compete at home in the annual NCHS JV2 tournament.
