Central Sweeps Three Duals at Downers Grove North

Naperville Central won 33 of 40 matches at the quad held at Downers Grove North.  Central now has a record of 23-3 and 5-1 in the DVC.  The three dual wins make it 20 duals in a row for the Redhawks.  Central won all five duals contested this week.

NCHS defeated Champaign Central in the first dual, winning 12 matches and losing just two.  The Redhawks earned five pins against the Maroons.  In the second contest of the morning, Central won 13 of 14 matches.  They added six more pins and a win by technical fall.  The Hawks downed the host school Downers Grove South, winning 10 of 14 matches.  They added seven more pins and one more technical fall.

Finishing 3-0 were Shuji Mizoguchi, Jake Keating, Luc Jandt, Steven Bumpus, Cam Hayes, and Christian Nussbaum.  Derek McDaniel and John Szczap both ended undefeated with two wins.  Kyle Guttosch, Nick Keating, Jackson Punzel, and Alex Raulicks also turned in two wins on the day.

The NCHS JV1 team took 5th place at the Bolingbrook Tournament.  Brad Catalono won the tournament at heavyweight.  The NCHS JV2 team took 5th at the Bill Young Invitational held at NCHS.  Michael Norwood and Steven Chobak brought home golds.

Next up the Hawks will travel to Mahomet-Seymour to compete in their third tournament there on Saturday.
