Naperville Central 12-9 (3-1 in DVC) honored their senior wrestlers on a Saturday morning at home prior to taking on Yorkville and Chicago Marist. Five individuals were recognized for their contributions to the Redhawk wrestling program. Ethan Jones will majoring in Phycology at DePaul University. Alex Knusel plans to study computer science at the University of Minnesota. Austin Longmire will be playing football at Carthage. Anthony Pendolino will attend Purdue University to study business. Shane Roth will be on the Gridiron at Southern Illinois University.
The
triangular was competed in round-robin style with three duals happening simultaneously
on two mats. Chris Ramirez (145) had an
excellent day on the mat winning both of his matches. Ramirez won by fall against Marist and etched
out a closely contested match against Yorkville, winning 3-1. Ramirez improves to 8-8 on the season. Several Hawk wrestlers were able to win a
match and pick up another by forfeit.
Ethan Olson (120) defeated his opponent from Marist and, with his
forfeit, improved to 15-5. Olson remains
second on the team in the takedown category with 42. Senior Ethan Jones (138) won by technical
fall scoring 16 unanswered points all in the first period. Jones has a record of 6-3. Nick Antonietti (285) needed just 13 seconds
to pin his opponent from Marist to increase his team leading fall total to
nine. With his forfeit win, his record
is 17-2. Last, but not least, Junior
Ayden Lutes (152) won a big match for the Redhawks, defeating Andrew Dado by a
score of 6-4. Lutes, with a record of
18-2, leads the teams in wins and takedowns (50).
Other
NCHS winners include Ty Martin (106) who won by technical fall against
Yorkville 17-2. Senior Alex Knusel (132)
needed 44 seconds to pin his Yorkville foe.
Anthony Pendolino (160) wrestled very will go defeat Yorkville 6-0. David Pirozhnik (195) scored a lightning fast
pin over Yorkville in just 13 seconds tied for the fastest pin of the day.
The JV/F team won all eight matches against Yorkville and won seven of 13 against
Chicago Marist.
