The Naperville Central (1-0) kicks off
the 2024-2025 season with a dual win against Batavia at home. Only ten matches were competed with Central
winning three by forfeit and Batavia winning one by forfeit. Both Batavia and Central football teams
advance deep into the football playoffs with Batavia in the state football finals
later the same day. Naperville Central
and Batavia split the remaining ten matches.
Central edged the Bulldogs in takedowns 15-14.
Freshman Jack Fitzgerald scored a fall over Calvillo of Batavia to earn his first ever varsity win at 106 pounds. Fitzgerald’s fall can in the second period. The Bulldog’s Kai Enos won by a score of 12-0 over Austin Aguinaldo at 120 pounds. Elias Chaney also earned a major decision for the Bulldogs by defeating Jake Moore 15-6 at 126 pounds. The Hawk’s Jacob Cochran squeaked out at 1-0 decision over Kyle Pasco at 126. Jack Duraski won by fall over Central’s Austin Schiltz in the second period of their match at 138.
Stavros Gerousis, wrestling at 144
pounds, impressed the home crowd with a second period fall over Fukumoto of
Batavia. The Batavia answered with a
14-9 decision by Cole Hubbard over Bradley Anderson 14-9 at 150 pounds.
Central earned two wins in a row at 157
and 165 pounds. Yusuf Sikander won by
technical fall 20-4 against Blake Vande Loo and Nicolas Olvera also won by
technical fall over Mellin 18-0. Colin
Peyton of Batavia won with a second period fall over Caelon Young at 190.
Central’s Dalton Meluch, Henry
Rydwelski and Nithilan Gandi all earned victories by forfeit.
