NCHS 57 – Waubonsie Valley 9
NCHS (13-9, 4-1 in DVC) finishes second in the DuPage Valley Conference after defeating Waubonsie Valley in a make-up dual at WVHS. There were five contested matches with three wins going to the Redhawks.
Ethan Jones scored a first period fall over Broccardo at 138 pounds. Ayden Lutes followed with a first period fall over Sullivan at 152 pounds. Haaris Khan was defeated 4-6 but scored the last two takedowns in the bout. David Pirozhnik was pinned in his match. Pirozhnik was up by five before succumbing. Senior Austin Longmire bumped up to heavyweight to take on Buntin and won a tight decision 3-2.
The junior varsity and freshman teams wrestled in 17 total
matches. The Redhawks were able to win
15 of them. Lucas Moen scored a takedown
in the final two seconds in his match to win 10-8. Patrick Bohan secured a takedown in overtime
to win 3-1. Ten of the fifteen wins were
falls for the Hawks.
